Truecaller was founded in the year 2009. The application was first launched on BlackBerry devices, after which it was also released on other major platforms like Symbian, Android, iOS and Windows Phone. As of the year 2017, the company has a user base of about 250 million users. In the year 2015, the company had also launched a separate application, known as True messenger, which will help its users to identify the sender of SMS messages. In the year 2013, the servers of Truecaller were hacked into by the Syrian Electronic Army, and more than 400GBs of user data were stolen from their website.
