In 2011, the company acquired Romanian online payments company, called GECAD e-Payments. PayuMoney started their operations in Europe, from the year 2006. In 2010, the company expanded to the Czech Republic, and in 2011, to Russia, Turkey, Slovakia, and Hungary. The company entered the South African market with the name, PayJar, which was rebranded to PayU in 2011. During that same year, the company was launched in India, by Ibibo, which is an online travel and air aggregator in India.
