The New India Assurance Company Limited or commonly known as New India assurance is an Indian company which is focused on providing the best general insurance policies to its customers, including for vehicles, health insurances, etcetera. The company is undertaken by the Government of India. The headquarters of the company is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The company was also touted as the largest general insurance company across India, because of the total gross premium collected by the company. New India Assurance was founded in the year 1919. The company has been operational for almost a hundred years now. The company was founded by Dorabji Tata, and it gained nationalisation in the year 1973. The company was previously a part of the General Insurance Corporation of India or GIC. But, in the year 1999, when GIC was segregated by the IRDAI Act and became a re-insurance company, four more companies were formed of it, which includes New India Assurance. The company has over 31 regional offices all over India and also has its representative offices in over 28 countries worldwide.
