Naukri was founded in the year 1997. The company started as an employment exchange, where it contained a database of all job seekers, with resumes, consultants, hiring managers, and much more. The services of the company went commercial in the same year itself. The company also started selling salary reports to various companies as well. The website's first version had a listing of 1000 jobs, taken from 29 different newspapers. And finally, multiple reviews on magazines and newspapers duly followed, with word of mouth as well. Slowly and steadily, the traffic on the website increased. In the year 2012, the company launched its smartphones apps for iOs, Android and also BlackBerry smartphones too.
