The former name of the company was Mcafee Associates Incorporated, till the year 2014, after which the name was changed to Intel Security Group, which lasted till 2017. The founder of the company was John Mcafee. In the year 2011, the company was purchased by Intel. In the year 2016, Intel collaborated with TPG Capital, and therefore TPG Capital along with Thoma Bravo holds about 51 per cent of the total shareholding of the company.
