Lyf was founded in the year 2015. The founder of the company was Mukesh Ambani. In the year 2016, the company launched its first 4G enabled smartphone. The company had launched four of its smartphones, which were named after the four different elements of the planet earth. They were known as Flame, Water, Earth and Wind. By the month of May in the year 2016, the company had captured about 7 per cent share of India’s smartphone market. The company was the second most 4G smartphone maker in India, in the year 2016, and behind Samsung. The market share was more than Lenovo and Micromax. Lyf easily reached the top five brands for smartphones in India, in terms of volumes of shipment. In the first quarter of the year 2016, the company had shipped about 1.7 million smartphones. The Lyf phones were manufactured by a Chinese Corporation, known as ZTE Corporation, Tinno, Intex, Wingtech, and CK Telecom Limited.
