History
Justdial was founded in the year 1996. The company has been operational for 22 years now. The founder of the company is Venkatachalam Sthanu Subramani Mani, or commonly known as V.S.S Mani. The company was started with just six employees, in a hired garage space. The idea was borrowed by the founder of the company, who had previously worked for Yellow Pages company, in the year 1987. But, the company was unable to operate, as the founder couldn't make an investment of 15,000 INR for a fixed landline. Later, the company started operations with a seed investment of 50,000 INR. The company opened its website in the year 2007. As of the year 2018, the company has more than 22 million listings, and also 452,900 active paid campaigns as well. In the year 2012, the company applied to become a public limited company, and the move was finalised in the year 2013. In the year 2017, the company was in the news for a rumour that Google would be acquiring Justdial. Due to this rumour, the company's shares had risen by almost 20 per cent.
