About Jio
Jio is an Indian-based mobile network operator whose headquarters are in Mumbai, India. Instead of the common 2G or 3G networks, Jio utilizes LTE to cover about 22 telecom circles in India. Voice over LTE is the dominant voice service option offered by Jio to its customers.
Jio works in partnership with other companies to ensure quality services to the clients. For example, in 2016, Jio came into an agreement with BSNL for intra-roaming services. In this mode, clients can use 2G or 3G spectrum in national roaming. Later in 2017, Jio partnered with Samsung to offer an upgraded LTE and even advance to 5G.

Jio History
Jio dates to 2010 when Reliance Industries acquired 96% shares of Infotel Broadband Services Limited (IBSL) for $720m to operate as a subsidiary. However, just a few years later, it would be renamed to Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL). The goal of this joint venture was to reach a larger clientele base and utilize technology for efficient service delivery. After close to one year of postponement, Jio was able to do a beta launch the 4G network in 2015, December. However, the official launch occurred nine months later. At the moment, Jio has approximately 16 million subscribers across India.
