About IOB
Indian Overseas Bank, or commonly known as IOB, is a public sector bank that is headquartered in Chennai, India. It has almost 3400 branches all over India, with 1150 branches in Tamil Nadu. Also in Tamil Nadu, there are three extension counters, and also there are eight overseas branches as well. There is also a 100 percent networking facility for all its branches, and even 100 percent Core Banking System for all its branches too. There are about 3300 IOB ATMs all over the country. It also has overseas offices in Bankok, Seoul, Colombo, Singapore, etcetera. The current revenue of the bank, as of 2016, is $3.3 billion. Also, the value of total assets held by the bank is $38 billion. About 31,846 employees are working at the bank, as of 2016.

In order IOB was founded in the year 1937. The founder was Shri. M.Ct.M. Chidambaram Chettyar. The primary objective of the bank was to maintain business in foreign exchange all around the globe. When India achieved independence in 1947, there were about 38 branches and seven branches in India and abroad, respectively. The bank was nationalized in 1969. In 1990, the bank took over the Bank of Thailand. In 2005, IOB launched its Debit Card services. By 2009, the braches were all 100 percent under Core Banking System.
