It was in the year 1955 that the LPG Gas operations Indane Gas commenced. Back then, Indane Gas was under the Burmah Shell Oil Company. The brand name Indane began its business in the year 1964. It was in the year 1965, that the first Indane Gas connection took place, in the city of Kolkata. In that same year, the customer base had grown to 2000, and Indane had its offices in Patna and Kolkata. During that time, cooking with an LPG gas was considered a taboo, as there were potential hazards and also was regarded to be unsafe too. Almost 50 years later, the customer base has grown over 98 million, and the company delivers over 2 million cylinders every day.
