Indira Gandhi National Open University or commonly known as IGNOU is an Indian university that provides the students with the opportunity to do distance education and also open education as well. IGNOU was founded in the year 1985. The university has been operational for more than 30 years now. The university was started with just a budget of 20 million INR. The Government of India also passed the IGNOU Act in the year 1985 as well. As of the year 1989, over 1,000 students were awarded their education degrees. In the year 1999, the university launched the virtual campus for its students. As of the year 2011, the university currently has its presence in over 40 countries and has served over 3 million students as well.
