HDFC Bank History

HDFC Company started its operations in Mumbai, India from 1994. It was inaugurated by the Union Finance Minister of then. 

In 2000, HDFC formed a partnered merger with Times Bank which was also a private bank. The merger worked well and enhanced the operations of the bank. As HDFC thrived, it acquired Centurion Bank in 2008 for approximately INR 95.1. Over time, the bank has expanded its operations throughout India and as of 2017, it had 12,260 ATMs and 4715 branches distributed over 2657 cities in India. The equity shares of HDFC Bank are traded in National Stock Exchange of India and also listed in Bombay Stock Exchange.
