The company Exide was founded in the year 1947. The owner of the company is the Rajan Raheja Group. The current chairman of the company is Bharat Dhirajlal Shah. Exide Battery was formerly known as Associated Battery Makers, which was changed to Chloride India in 1972. The name was further Changed to Chloride Industries in 1988 and was finally settled for the name Exide Industries in the year 1995. The Indian Navy receives their batteries only from Exide Industries. In the year 2013, the company acquired ING Vysa Life Insurance company, which was later renamed to Exide Life Insurance. Exide is the only manufacturer of batteries in the world, that delivers the broadest range of batteries, from just 2.5 Ah to 20,6000 Ah.
