About ESIC
Employee State Insurance Corporation or commonly known as Esic is an organisation based in India and is currently owned by the Government of India. The company specialises in providing health insurance policies and other types of self-financing social security measures to the Government employees, working at a Government organisation. Esic was formed in the year 1952. The organisation has been active for more than 65 years now. The company implemented the ESI Act first in Delhi and Kanpur, in the year 1952. The company was actually formed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment for the protection of Government employees. The act was first applicable for only factory workers, and then later was applicable to all entities which have ten or more workers. As of the year 2016, the total number of subscribers under this plan is more than 82 million.
