About BSES

​​BSES is an electricity provider in Delhi. It has two departments, known as the BRPL and BYPL. Together with these two sectors, BSES delivers electricity to the whole of Delhi. It is a successor company of the Delhi Vidyut Board. BRPL covers about 750 sq. Km. with a customer density of 3100 per sq. Km. While on the other hand, BYPL covers approximately 200 sq. Km. with 8250 customers per sq. Km. BYPL serves to around 1.6 million customers in the central and east Delhi. BRPL has 2.4 million customers. The losses of BYPL was 63 percent in 2002, and it is now reduced to 11 percent in 2017-18. In the same way, the loses of BRPL has decreased from 51.5 percent to 10.7 percent.

BSES History

​BSES was formed in 2002 when the Delhi Vidyut Board was separated into six different companies. BSES started its operations in July 2002. The primary mission of BSES was to provide quality and reliable electricity to the masses. Since its inception, it has invested about 7800 crores on upgrading the infrastructure for delivering power. There has also been a reduction in losses as well. The BYPL segment of BSES has a combined holding of Reliance Infrastructure Limited and the Delhi Government, in a 51:49 ratio.
