British Council History

British Council was founded in the year 1934. The company has been operational for more than 85 years now. The company has its presence in more than 100 countries all over the world. The former name of the organisation was the British Committee for Relations with Other Countries, which was changed in the year 1936. The company started expanding its services abroad in the year 1938. In the year 2011 and 2013, the centres in Moscow, Russia and Tripoli, Libya, was affected by terrorist attacks, killing about 12 people in the process.
