The organisation is engaged in providing public transportation services via bus to its customers, in the city of Bangalore, India. The headquarters of the organisation is based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The bus services are provided not only in the urban Bangalore areas but also in the rural areas as well. The organisation has the most significant number of Volvo buses in its fleet. There are more than 6,300 fleets of buses currently with the organisation, as of the year 2017.

Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation was founded in the year 1997. The company is currently active for more than 20 years now. The former name of the organisation was Bangalore Transport Service. There are various types of bus services provided to the customers, and therefore customers can choose which service they want. In the year 2016, the company also introduced Smart Cards for gaining entry into the buses. These smart cards are also rechargeable as well. As of the year 2016, an Android mobile application was also launched as well.
