The founder of the company was Thomas Bata, and the company was first founded in the country of Austria-Hungary. The company also started to diversify its manufacturing methods in tanning, agriculture, wood processing, newspaper publishing, etcetera, starting in the year 1915. After the second World War, the company started its operations with its headquarters in Canada. The company started then expanding its presence in other countries simultaneously.
