Assam Power Distribution Company Limited or commonly known as Apdcl is an Indian organisation, owned by the Government of Assam, India, is focused on the production and distribution of electrical power throughout the state of Assam. The headquarters of the organisation is based in Assam, India. The organisation is currently known as the Assam State Electricity Board or ASEB. ASEB has been a culmination of three different organisations, namely Assam Power Distribution Company, Assam Electricity Grid Corporation and Assam Power Generation Company.

APDCL History

Apdcl was founded in the year 1958, under the Electricity Act of the year 1948. The organisation has been active for more than 60 years now. The organisation is currently a public limited company. In the year 1972, when Assam was divided into Mizoram and Meghalaya, the new electricity board was established in the year 1975. Two companies namely PGCIL and NEEPCO help in providing electrical power to the North-Eastern part of India.
