Andhra Bank History

Andhra Bank was started in 1923 by Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayyain Andhra Pradesh. It commenced its banking operations on the 28th of November, 1923. The capital was approximately $1500 but it grew to about $15000 by 1956 marking significant growth.

Andhra Bank has had various milestones over time. For example, it was among the first banks to introduce the use of credit cards in India in 1981. It is among the first bank to have many life insurance policies.
