Acer was founded in the year 1976. The company has been operational for more than 42 years now. The founders of the company were George Huang, Stan Shih and Carolyn Yeh. The company started its operation with just eleven employees and about $25,000 capital. The company at first used to distribute electronic parts, and also served as a consultant in the technology of microprocessors as well. The company then entered the PC market, and the company's name was changed in the year 1987. In the year 2006, the company's revenue rose of about more than $11 billion. As of the year 2013, Jason Chen was named as the CEO and President of the company.
